Meeting in Washington with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Deputy Prime Minister Shaul Mofaz explained that concessions to Syria on the Golan Heights will result in an Iranian presence on the Golan.
Mofaz, a former IDF chief of staff, told the senior US official that just as today, Iran has a foothold in Gaza and southern Lebanon, a land deal involving the Golan Heights with Syria would provide Iran with a foothold in the north, on the Golan.
Mofaz’s statements contradict reports attributed to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and his willingness to cut a deal with the Syrians that would involve Israel’s withdrawal from the area liberated in the June 1967 Six Day War.
Addressing the growing Iranian threat, Mofaz detailed Iran’s involvement in regional events, citing Iran’s direct role in Gaza, southern Lebanon and its ongoing pursuit of nuclear independence and the simultaneous development of longer-range missiles, capable of delivering a nuclear warhead to distant targets.
At best stated Mofaz, international economic sanctions may have slowed the process a bit, but by no means will the sanctions halt Tehran’s nuclear program, a significant cause for growing concerns as Iran approaches the ‘point-of-no-return.

Mr Mofaz, instead of trying to persuade the american government, maybe try to persuade your own Prime Minister and cabinet of what you are saying. Us normal americans know it already, you foolish Israelis need to learn it.
