VIDEO: Israeli Start-Up May Have Found A Solution To Plastic Pollution


Sharon Barak is an Israeli chemical engineer and cofounder of the Israeli start-up Solutum, which seems to have developed a unique compound that replaces plastic with a cost efficient, strong and eco-friendly solution.

Barak earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Ben-Gurion University and a Master of Business Administration from Tel Aviv University. She has worked primarily in research and R&D and has already earned the Max Perlman Award for excellence in global business.

  1. But if it disoloves in water, how can you make water bottles or any drink bottles out of it?
    The contents will dissolve the bottle that they are filling!

  2. Also, this wouldn’t be very practical considering rain and similar conditions…much of plastic wrapping is meant to PROTECT, and very often against water.

    Perhaps it can be altered to dissolve specifically in HOT water? That would really make a huge difference!
