At the cargo terminul in the Ashdod port, a 12 meter shipping crate caught fire that destroyed 4.5 tons of computer tablets.

Five teams of Firefighters understood quickly that the shipping crate contained a lot of batteries causing the extinguishing of the fire to be very complicated. They were unable to use water to put out the blaze due to the threat of explosion.

The Fire Commander of the scene instructed teams to use alternative methods of squelching the flame. He also made sure that the area was isolated and roped-off.

The incident took place on the periphery of the port.

After a while, firefighters got control of the blaze and the  incident concluded without injury.
