Bennett Could Have been One of the Waze Guys

wazeAccording to a report filed by Yediot correspondent Akiva Novak, Economics Minister (Bayit Yehudi) Naftali Bennett was tapped to run Waze seven years ago, but he declined. The offer came after Bennett just completed a successful exit from his startup company, selling it for a cool $145 million.

The report states that Bennett felt the Second Lebanon War was a failure and he felt it was time for him to enter the public arena towards having an impact. At the time, he also turned down to become opposition leader Binyamin Netanyahu’s bureau chief, preferring to focus on building his own political path. Bennett’s aides have confirmed the facts in the report.

Now, with the imminent Google purchase of Waze one cannot help but to wonder if Minister Bennett has regrets.

  1. Bennett would have been a lot better off being a Waze, or now Google, employee than he is in his current position. Certainly he would have been better off in the next world than the terrible mess he got himself into.

  2. Perhaps he would have done to Waze what he is doing to the country and it would be worth a billion less and we would never have heard from either of them.

  3. What is there to regret? Earning a few bucks? He is doing much more now by conscripting the frummers, by making sure there are less funds for hesder yeshivot……
