Four people were killed and 10 injured after a minibus belonging to the Prisoner Rehabilitation Authority collided with a guardrail on Highway 443 near Mevo Modiin on Thursday. It happened near the Shilat Junction, as the van was reportedly making its way to Jerusalem.
Eyewitnesses report the minivan swerved into the guardrail causing it to go airborne, and overturned multiple times into the brush alongside the highway. Some of the occupants were ejected from the vehicle.
The deceased victims were all in their 40’s. Their names have not been released. It appears that 3 of the victims are Arabs, and one is an Israeli.
Magen David Adom and United Hatzalah rushed to the scene, but were forced to pronounce four people dead at the scene. At least 10 others, in serious, moderate, and light condition were treated for injuries.
United Hatzalah Volunteer EMT David Krispel said: “Together with other volunteers from United Hatzalah I treated numerous people who sustained various injuries in the accident prior to their being transported to hospitals in Jerusalem, Be’er Yaakov and Ramat Gan for further treatment.”
