Israel Air Force commander Major-General Eliezer Shkedy announced the F16i fighter jets grounded in March due to fears of the presence of formaldehyde in the cockpits have been once again cleared for takeoff. Seven jets which tested positive for the presence of the carcinogenic substance remain grounded.
Shkedy announced that while the fighter planes were grounded, they were maintained on “ready” status and would be used at any time for operational objectives if compelled to do so. Now that they are once again cleared, the planes will also be used in training scenarios.
