A Nachal Chareidi soldier who refuses to remove his “יחי אדוננו מורנו ורבנו מלך המשיח” yarmulke will now find himself in judgment before a superior officer for violating the military’s regulations governing yarmulkes.
YWN-ISRAEL reported last summer that the IDF would not permit “yechi” yarmulkes. The new regulation announced then, which was approved by IDF Chief of Personnel Branch Major-General Orna Barvibai, permits any size yarmulke in any color, but without any and all writing. The military does not single out the meshichisti Chabad yarmulkes. It bans all writing including one’s name.
According to the Walla report, the soldier serves as an assistant in a medical clinic in a Jordan Valley base. The soldier was advised, asked and ordered to remove the yarmulke because it is not in adherence with military regulations but he refused.
The Office of the IDF Spokesman reiterates that the regulation permits any size and color, but one may not have writing on one’s yarmulke.

If enforced uniformly it is a fair rule. The American army has a similar rule on yarmulkes. The army also probably bans political slogans on uniforms, and could be held liable if a soldier on duty was wearing a yarmulke with a trademarked logo being used without permission of the IP owner (something Americans do frequently – but the IDF has deeper pockets).
just remember you are dealing with a mash unit person
Anything reflective or light coloring on your head is a sure way to get hit by a sharp shooter up to 500m away, so take off the writing…..
May the true Mashiach PLEASE come forward FAST!
“the soldier serves as an assistant in a medical clinic”
Where he realy belongs is in a Phsyciatric Clinic…as a patient that is….
“Yechi” “nach nach” have no connection to Yidishkiet
i think the Army of Hashem doesn’t allow them either 🙂
(I’m referring to the REAL army of Hashem)
Why would a soldier wanted to identify himself, with a name on a yarmulke? or any slogan? seems like a hazard!!!
its no big deal i was at the kosel today and the nachal charedi was there and there was a boy with his “israeli chabad” yarmulka and noone cared or said anything..
