The situation that is a parent’s worst nightmare and has claimed the lives of dozens of children in the past occurred again today in a Rishon LeZion parking lot on Moshe Dayan Street. A 4-year-old girl was discovered locked in a car parked in the lot near Home Center.
Volunteers from United Hatzalah and an ambulance team from Magen David Adom rushed to the scene to treat the young girl who was extricated from the vehicle by concerned citizens. Following initial treatment, the girl was transported to Assaf Harofeh Hospital for further care and treatment. She had a mild case of Heat Stroke and dehydration.
Police arrived and detained the driver of the car, a mini-bus run by a taxi company.
Yonaton Ohayon a Paramedic with Magen David Adom said: “When we arrived at the parking lot, civilians told us that they saw the toddler inside the car through the dark windows. The firefighters who came to the site smashed the window and rescued her when she was fully aware and had signs of heat stroke. ”
“We brought the girl, who was confused, in the ambulance quickly and we operated the air conditioner to cool her down as part of the medical treatment while we performed medical tests. We later evacuated her to the hospital when her condition was stable.”
