Islamic Jihad Blamed For Monday’s Rocket Fire From Gaza – Israel Reduces Authorized Gaza Fishing Zone

IDF Spokesman Brigadier-General Ronen Manelis announced on Tuesday morning that the rocket fired on Monday from Gaza was fired by the Islamic Jihad. Manelis said the rocket fell kilometers from the coast after the terrorists fired it to land in Israel. In response to the rocket, Israel is reducing the size of the permitted fishing zone to six nautical miles.

The IDF Spokesperson said that in recent weeks the Islamic Jihad has been working to deteriorate the situation and harm the arrangements, and according to the IDF, those involved in these attempts are a commander from northern Gaza Baha Abu al-Ata. He is acting in the organization’s external direction, and on Friday he declared that he would continue with the resistance. According to the IDF Spokesperson, Abu al-Ata is acting against attempts to stabilize the region and improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza, stressing that the leader of the organization in Syria is Ziad Nahaleh, who directs senior Jihad figures.

COGAT (Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories) Major-General Kamil Abu Rokon announced that the fishing area in Gaza would be reduced to six nautical miles until further notice.

A rocket was fired at 9:00 PM on Monday from Gaza and exploded at sea off the coast of Israel. The IDF Spokesman’s Office said yesterday that a rocket was identified but that the rocket did not fall in Israeli territory, and that one of the assessments was that the rockets were aimed at the sea as part of a Hamas drill, In the coastal areas where the rocket landed, they reported that they heard explosions in the area.
