Veteran residents of the Upper Golan Heights admit they do not remember the last time they saw significant snow during Chol Hamoed Pesach, and this year in particular, a leap year, with Pesach falling in “spring” according to the Gregorian calendar.
However, the snowfall that began accumulating on Sunday continues on Monday morning, as seen in the accompanying videos.
Residents reported this was the first time snow fell on Pesach on Mt. Hermon in 22 years. The temperature was reportedly 0C (32F). On Sunday afternoon, 20cm (7.8 inches) of snow had accumulated since motzei Shabbos.
Many visitors made their way to the area to get a firsthand look at the snow.
The resort was shut down to visitors later in the day.
