Gafne Leads The Coalition: United Chareidim Send A Stern Message To Lieberman & Netanyahu

Yahadut Hatorah and Shas have decided to present their position as a united chareidi front against the threats of Avigdor Lieberman and his Yisrael Beitenu party. The voice of the chareidi parties is that of MK Moshe Gafne, who delivered the message as coalition talks are nearing, with faction leaders meeting with President Reuven Rivlin.

Speaking with the party’s newspaper on Monday, April 15, 2019, Gafne tells Yated Neeman that regarding the objections pertaining to matters of state and religion expressed by Lieberman, and his demand that he be given the right to veto chareidi religious legislation, to which they say “no”, warning if Mr. Netanyahu gives in, there will not be a coalition.

Gafne stressed his party plans to recommend Netanyahu for forming the next government coalition, working together with the United Right-Wing party to prevent Lieberman from advancing his demands pertaining to religion and state. Another issue that will have to be ironed out is that both Deri and Lieberman will be demanding control of the Interior Ministry.
