Betar Illit: Two-Year-Old Sustains Facial Injuiries From Caustic Cleaner

A 2-year-old girl sustained light facial injuries in her home in Betar Illit, apparently from a caustic cleaner being used to clean before Pesach. United Hatzalah paramedics treated the child and she was transported to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem.

“Due to the nature of the incident and in consultation with the National Poison Control Center in Rambam Hospital, it was decided to transport her to the pediatric emergency room in Hadassah Ein Kareem Hospital in Jerusalem, accompanied by a United Hatzalah doctor,” paramedic Ariel Schussheim said.

Nachman Tubol, an online spokesman for United Hatzalah adds: “In the last few days before the Pesach there were a large number of cases of burns from cleaning materials during the clean-up and preparation for Yomtov. It is important and advisable to follow the safety and precautionary regulations during the Pesach holiday season and to prevent children or toddlers from reaching cleaning materials or sharp objects.”
