Israel Police officials announce the department stands ready for Election Day for 21st Knesset on Tuesday, April 9, 2019.
17,000 police personnel will be deployed on Election Day morning, including border police and police volunteers, to protect and maintain order at the over 10,000 polling stations spread out over 4000 municipalities and cities around the country.
Israel Police emphasizes that it will not allow a violation of order or violations of the Elections Law and will act to enforce and take measures against any attempt to commit such offenses, in order to enable the Election Day to take place without incident. Police add, “Large police forces, both overt and covert, will act in polling stations and in the surrounding areas in order to prevent, locate and act against any illegal activity that may harm the integrity of the elections and their proper functioning.
“Along with the operational preparations around the polling stations, the Israel Police is preparing to provide an appropriate response to the routine events and the hundreds of thousands of travelers who are expected to visit the entertainment sites, parks, beaches and roads on the official day off. The traffic police and patrols will be deployed throughout the country in order to regulate and direct traffic on the roads and to provide optimal police services to Israeli citizens.”
