Former MK Omri Sharon, a son of Ariel Sharon, will on Sunday receive his first furlough for 48 hours, permitting him to leave prison. He is serving a seven-month sentence on political corruption charges.
Supporters of the younger Sharon decried his harsh sentence, which began in February, stating he is the first person found guilty of the election fraud charges ever sentenced to prison. In addition, due to the prolonged comatose condition of his father, the former prime minister, they feel the sentence is unjustifiably harsh.
