Peleg rov Rav Tuvia Schlesinger announced Peleg loyalists will not be taking part in the upcoming elections. Speaking to Arutz 7, Rav Schlesinger, a member of the Bnei Torah party, announced that in his words, all of the parties played a role in destroying yeshivos and the world of Torah, and therefore, in the eyes of Peleg, they are all pasul.

Rav Schlesinger insists Yahadut Hatorah has not defended Yiddishkeit and Shabbos as it claims, citing the egalitarian prayer area near the kollel, the draft law crisis, and increased chilul Shabbos, questioning rhetorically “What have they done for Shabbos?”

He added that unlike Neturei Karta, Peleg is not ideologically opposed to voting in elections, but has decided it will not participate in the upcoming elections for 21st Knesset for the reasons stated.

According to estimates, the Peleg boycott will amount to some 40,000 eligible voters not taking part in the upcoming election.
