Haifa Driver Collapses Behind The Wheel – Taken To Hospital in Serious Condition


A 53-year-old driver in Haifa collapsed behind the wheel while driving due to a medical condition, and gotten into an accident. He lost consciousness on Yaakov Klivnov St. in the evening on Wednesday.

United Hatzalah volunteers who lived nearby rushed to the scene as did ambulance teams from Magen David Adom. EMS teams treated the man in the field and then rushed him to Carmel hospital while performing CPR on him.

United Hatzalah paramedic Doron Shafrir, who lives in the area and was one of the first responders at the scene said: “Together with other volunteers, I performed successful CPR on the driver and delivered 9 shocks from a defibrillator carried by our volunteers. He was intubated at the scene. Once his pulse returned, we loaded him onto a mobile intensive care ambulance that transported him to the hospital for further care and treatment. He was in serious but stable condition during transport.”
