Rock attacks against Jewish motorists traveling throughout Yehuda and Shomron are unfortunately daily occurrences, and little if anything is done if there are no casualties or significant damage.
A smashed window or minor body damage to one’s vehicle does not elicit a serious response from officials other than instruction of where to go and what forms to fill out to record the incident and receive a form entitling one to receive compensation for necessary repairs.
In this particular case, an attack happened in Gush Etzion on Tuesday morning. A female resident of the area was targeted and the damage to her vehicle is evident from the accompanying photo.
B’chasdei Hashem, there were no reports of physical injury, but if one listens to her voice, it is clear she was shaken up, traumatized, and the attack did leave mental scarring that will take time to heal. Such an attack often makes it difficult or impossible for a motorist to continue passing the same area. B’chasdei Hashem, for most, life continues but many have to overcome the trauma experienced, especially when one travels with small children in a vehicle.
However, the fact that there are no injuries or fatalities does should not minimize the severity of the attack, which is intended to cause serious harm, as that is what rocks do, and sadly, the attacks are so frequent and many in number, the solution from the government has been to accept them as a part of life. Clearly is a rock was hurled at a motorist on Dizengoff Street in Tel Aviv or King George Street in Jerusalem, and if there was damage and perhaps injury, it would be a front-page story.
However, since these attacks occur in the “territories”, they are played down and for the most part, ignored.
