Officials in Assuta Hospital Ashdod report that the medical facility stands ready for an escalation of events in southern Israel.
In the statement to the press, the hospital states: “The hospital is largely protected from rocket fire and will continue to provide routine medical treatment for patients.
“The delivery rooms, obstetrics and neonatal departments are completely protected and continue to operate without change.
“The new helicopter landing pad in the hospital is ready to receive patients and victims of emergency and routine events.
“Dormitories were opened for the workers’ children in the hospital. The management of the hospital is in constant contact with the IDF Homefront Command, the Ministry of Health, the Ashdod Municipality, the defense and rescue forces and the hospitals in the area and will assist in any need.”
Israel’s newest hospital was built to assist Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon and Soroka Medical Center in Be’er Sheva, offering an additional medical facility for southern residents, built to permit continued operation during war times, including rocket attacks from Gaza.
