Due to the renewal of rocket attacks into Israel by Hamas, and the situation following the IDF’s retaliatory strikes, the Jerusalem Old City Development Company on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, opened the doors of many of its tourist attractions free of charge for residents of Gaza border communities.
The sites include the Churva Shul, the Burnt House, the Herodian Quarter and other sites to the children and adults from those areas by showing an identity card to prove their address. Anyone interested may dial *4987.
Other Jerusalem sites opened their doors to southern residents too, including Ammunition Hill, the Friends of Tzion Museum at Yosef Rivlin Street, and the Bible Lands Museum, with the latter offering the free entry to southern residents for the remainder of this week. Beit Levi Eshkol on Ben Maimon Blvd. is also among the venues offering free entry to southern residents.
The children were off from school on Tuesday because the IDF Homefront Command decided to close schools along the Gaza border area closed in line with the security evaluation during the early morning hours.
