A long-range rocket was fired from southern Gaza into Israel’s Sharon region, destroying a home in Moshav Mishmeret on Sunday, March 25, 2019. Seven people were in the home when the rocket carrying tens of kilograms of explosive material slammed into the cement home at about 5:20 AM, destroying it. The family’s dogs were killed in the attack.
All the members of the family were hospitalized, including the 60-year-old grandmother, the only one who did not make it into the safe room in time. The others were injured because the safe room door was not yet closed, as they waited for the grandmother to make it. The others, including a 6-month-old, sustained less serious injuries.
Officials in Beilinson Hospital in Tel Aviv reported on Monday that her condition remains stable and she is admitted to the hospital’s neurosurgical unit. She is being vigilantly monitored due to the sensitivity of her injuries. The head of the unit, Dr. Sagi Harnof explains the place where the shrapnel penetrated her body requires close medical supervision, adding she is not in life-threatening danger however.
