Twenty talmidim of Yeshivat Chemed who came to Yerushalayim on Erev Shabbos to collect money, found themselves in Har Nof on Shabbos, and they were hosted by none other but Eli Yishai, head of the Yachad party.

During shachris in Dvar Yerushalayim, Yishai spotted the group of yeshiva bochrim, and became aware that they may not have a place to eat their seudas Shabbos. Yishai approached and asked if they had any place to eat. The guys, in response, stammered and said, “not exactly.”

The chairman of Yachad stood up at the end of Davening and announced about the incident. He said, “Whoever can take a few young men with him will be blessed. All the rest, with me.”

Eight of them were indeed invited by mispallalim in the shul, while 12 others went with Eli to his house.

The boys were with him all day, including seudas shlishis. It appears that they did have their own food for Friday night, but the food they prepared for lunch and seudas shlishis spoiled.
