Police on Tuesday interrupted a shiur being given by  HaRav Dov Lior at the site of the Ariel Junction terrorist attack early this week, which claimed two lives, that of IDF Lt. Gal Keidan HY”D, 19, from Beersheva, and Rabbi Achiad Ettinger HY”D, 47, a father of 12 from Yishuv Eli.

Rav Lior it is among the most prominent rabbonim and poskim in the dati leumi community. Despite a request for the participants to police to permit them to continue, police refused to leave. In addition, police began to detain a number of hilltop youth present at the scene. When Dr. Michael Ben Ari, who was in attendance, as police what they were doing, they replied “were just doing our duty”, refusing to elaborate further.

Dr. Michael Ben-Ari said in response that “after the ‘rule of law’ system disqualified me this week from running to the Knesset, it continues to harass the lovers of Israel and the heroic settlers and interferes with a shiur Torah held at the site where two Jews were murdered. The time has come for the police to turn their forces to deal with the real terrorists, not with the builders of our country.”

Attorney Itamar Ben-Givir says that “instead of sending forces to carry out significant reprisals in response to the murderous and shocking attack that we were witnessing, and thus to deter those wishing to harm the Jews, police officers found another concern: disrupting a shiur Torah. During my tenure in the Knesset, I plan to deal more with the police harassment of the settlers and will work to stop it immediately.”
