MK Maklev Attacks The Blue And White Party

MK Uri Maklev of Degel Hatorah has joined his colleagues in leveling harsh criticism against the Blue and White party, which continues to lead in the polls.

MK Maklev was interviewed by one of the “Degeleinu” official’s on the Degel Hatorah information line, using the opportunity to relate to a number of communities, and personalities, including Yair Lapid and Binyamin Netanyahu.

“The connection between Gantz and Lapid has created a left-wing party that hates religion. We are all aware of the great fear, that in recent polls the party has earned 30+ seats. There is a fear it will be the largest party in Israel. It is a party which has highlighted its disdain for religion.”

In his words, “Lapid has significant influence in the matter pertaining to religion and state, which remains a priority for his party. There is no significance in setting policy regarding security, finance, or social issues, so they seem to be grasping onto the matter of hounding the chareidim.”

At the end of the interview Maklev added, “we in Yahadut Hatorah, support Netanyahu for Prime Minister, both internally and to the outside public”.

“However, the way of Netanyahu is our way. Yes, he is under attack and we must strengthen him. However, those who vote for us, for a stable party,  also strengthen him while maintaining the world of Torah, matters of tradition, and maintaining the religion,” added Maklev.

Regarding the internal conflicts that have plagued Yahadut Hatorah historically, i.e. the fights that took place during the municipal elections between Degel Hatorah and Agudas Yisrael, he points out that now, ahead of Knesset elections, there is harmony. “We made a significant effort to get over the municipal elections. Degel Hatorah agreed to a 50/50 formula with Agudas Yisrael. I feel the positive feedback from the tzibur, the support and appreciation.”
