Many are wondering how a party is run with four heads. There was much surprise a few short weeks ago when Benny Gantz, Yair Lapid, Gabi Ashkenazi and Moshe Ya’alon announced they are joining together towards a governmental revolution, to oust the ruling Likud party and its leader, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. However, now, not too long after the announced union, there are reports that there are tensions in the factions which comprise the Blue and white party.
According to a report released by Safi Ovadia of News13, the disagreements are between the political advisors and the ‘professionals’ running the campaigns due to the narrowing of the gap between Blue and White and the Likud party in recent polls.
The report states that there is a good working relationship between Gantz and Lapid, but there are tensions between some of the followers of each of the leaders regarding the direction of the party’s election campaign. Some of Gantz’s people are telling some of Lapid’s followers, “the campaign was doing fine until you joined it.”
Officials in the party responded to Ovadia’s report, insisting there are no tensions or infighting, including among political strategists.
According to News13 political analyst Aviv Drucker, if the Blue and White party does assemble the next coalition government, Gabi Ashkenazi, who is in the fourth slot, wishes to become the nation’s next Minister of Infrastructure, and, as being a former IDF chief of staff, wishes to also serve on the Security Cabinet.
Drucker adds that since Ashkenazi joined the party, they are stuck. He insists there is much infighting among the strategists, and they lack a single person who heads the campaign, a person with sufficient experience to jumpstart their campaign and take them back to where they were, with less than 30 days until elections.
