The three residents of Meah Shearim arrested on Monday were released with restrictions by the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court later in the day during their arraignment hearing. The three were arrested by police during a raid in the community.
Judge Oren Silberman decided to release them with restrictions, including a prohibition from visiting Campus Strauss for six months, the site at which they were protesting. They may not come within 200 meters of that venue during the six-month period. They had to get a third party to sign a NIS 4,000 guarantee that they would comply with terms of the release of forfeit the money.
Kikar Shabbos News adds that one of the suspects received a call during interrogation, a call which the officers did not realize took place as his phone was on ‘vibrate’ mode. They call was left open during his questioning, for people at the other end in Meah Shearim, to listen to live, as the questioning by police was taking place. Police simply forgot to confiscate the suspect’s phone when he was arrested.
The suspects were among participants against a Asifa for women at Campus Strauss on February 26, 2019. They began spraying water at participants and throwing used diapers, all in the name of opposing academic education.
On Monday morning, police came in large numbers, entering Meah Shearim to make the arrests.

For every three they arrest, there are another 300 waiting to replace them.
