Last week, at a protest against the induction of women into the IDF, avreich Meir Blau was arrested, and when his identity number was run in the computer, it was learned that he is wanted by military police for being AWOL. Unlike in other cases, Peleg rabbonim did not order protests in response to the arrest.
Nevertheless, the Peleg’s’ Committee to Save the World of Torah’ worked to have him released, and attorney Menachem Stauber told military authorities the avreich in custody has a 4-month-old baby at home, as well as giving other reasons towards having him released. The military prosecution appealed the call for Blau’s release, opposing it. A military court decided to permit his release to his home for Shabbos, to return to appear in military court on Sunday.
According to a Kikar Shabbos News report, on Friday night after shul, dozens of mispallalim from the Ahavas Torah Shul escorted Blau home as they sang and danced.
