Motzei Shabbos News Round-Up From Israel


On Motzei Shabbos, the IAF retaliated for continued launching of balloon bombs coming from Gaza. The IAF struck two Hamas outposts along the border with Israel. The balloon bombs continue to be launched by Hamas and its operatives. Numerous bombs were launched at Israel over Friday and Shabbos instigating the IAF retaliation.

A 70-year-old man was moderately injured in an act of violence in Tel Aviv on Motzei Shabbos. He was treated at the scene and brought to Sheba hospital by Magen David Adom ambulance services.

A 17-year-old boy in the Ramot neighborhood of Jerusalem was seriously injured when small firecrackers exploded right next to him. The boy was treated at the scene by volunteers from United Hatzalah.

United Hatzalah volunteer EMT Oshi Held relayed: “When I arrived at the scene I found a 17-year-old boy with a serious injury in his eyes. According to passersby who witnessed the incident, the boy was injured when a firecracker exploded. Following the initial treatment we provided the boy was taken to the hospital.”

A Jerusalem Magisterial court ruled that police would have to pay Yair Kahati, 10,000 NIS in reparations for a forceful arrest. Kahati was dragged off of the Temple Mount two-and-a-half years ago. Kahati was dragged from the Temple Mount gate by his belt by a police officer and then arrested.

Some 8,000 Gazans participated in violent riots against Israel along the Gaza border on Friday. Terrorists from among the crowd threw molotov cocktails, stones, improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and hand-grenades at security forces who returned fire using non-lethal crowd dispersing ammunition. At least ten terrorists were shot and injured during the riots.

IDF forces and police sappers defused dozens of IEDs that were thrown over the border fence by rioters on Friday. Large explosions were heard throughout the region due to the work.

A 20-year-old was stabbed on Nadav David Street in Rehovot and was transported to Kaplan hospital to receive treatment for his injuries. Later on Friday, an 18-year-old from Lod was shot and took himself to Assaf HaRofeh Hospital while in moderate condition. Police, who rushed to the hospitals, bagen an investigation into both cases and are classifying them as criminal in nature.

A 19-year-old was seriously injured in a car accident that took place on Highway 762 between Rechasim and Tivon.

A 40-year-old man was seriously injured in a car accident on Shabbos morning on Highway 232 near Nir Yitzchak.

A 30-year-old man was stabbed on Shabbos morning in an act of violence that broke out on Yisrael Zangvil Street in Netanya. The man was in serious condition and taken to hospital.

A fire broke out in Kfar Szold in a kindergarten. Four fire fighting teams were dispatched to put out the blaze. Thankfully the incident occurred on Shabbos and no one was in the kindergarten. No injuries were reported.

Three firefighting crews were dispatched to evacuate two people from a car that dove into a residential porch on Alexander Yannai Street in Haifa. It is still unknown what caused the car to dive onto the porch. The firefighters stabilized the vehicle and then shattered the front windshield, through which the two people were extricated safely from the vehicle.

On Friday, a one-and-a-half-year-old toddler drank a bottle of paraffin in his home in Bnei Brak. The toddler was treated by United Hatzalah volunteers and then taken to the hospital for further treatment in moderate condition.

  1. Just because the secular Hebrew-language news media report such disheartening news, doesn’t mean that YWN has to follow suit. Nothing good has happened in Eretz Yisrael over Shabbos? Every Sunday it’s more or less the same: fires, stabbings, traffic accidents, etc. At least you ought to make clear that nearly all of these misfortunes are not befalling Israelis who are sitting around their tables enjoying cholent, kugel, singing zmiros Shabbos. Whereas I wouldn’t expect the secular Israeli media to do so, I would imagine Yeshiva World should.
