Police in the Dan district have arrested a suspect who is believed to have assaulted a hospital security guard on Monday evening. Police were called to the scene, not revealing the hospital in question, and were told a security guard had been assaulted.
A 27-year-old Jerusalem resident has been taken into custody as the prime suspect in the assault. The security guard did not sustain serious injury.
There is an alarming increase in assaults against security guards, doctors and nurses in hospitals throughout Israel, often by patients and family members accompanying them, due to long waiting time or at times, the result of complaints regarding to the patient care given. This has become a high priority as doctors and nurses in many hospitals have held minimal strikes to highlight the severity of the situation.
