It is final: July 2019 The southern gallery at Teddy Stadium will be taken down.
The construction of the southern gallery will be completed, and the roof will be covered in the entire stadium. * 8 new viewing booths will be constructed. * Work will be done to make the stadium accessible to people with disabilities. * Installation and operation of a state-of-the-art camera system that will help combat violence in sporting events will also be completed.
Mayor Moshe Leon “After many years I am happy to announce that starting next season, after waiting many seasons, there will be a roof over the southern stadium in Teddy. The new upgrade of Teddy Stadium will make it the largest and most advanced stadium in Israel. National games will be held, and we will be able to host the international tournaments of our teams.”
The Jerusalem Municipality will begin renovating Teddy Stadium with an investment of NIS 20 million, which will make Teddy the newest and leading stadium in Israel that meets the strictest international standards.
The upgrade work, which will be carried out by the Ariel Company tat manages the stadium and the Payis Arena, will include:
• Completion of the roof of the southern gallery, which will turn Teddy into a 360° dome similar to the world’s leading stadiums. The works include 350 tons of construction, 1,600 square meters of acoustic roofing, 4,000 square meters of polycarbonate roofing, steel works, concrete, roofing and electrical works, and will be executed in cooperation with Adiram Metal Industries,
The cost of the investment in completing the cover is NIS 14 million and was made possible through the financing of the Toto Sports Betting Council and the Jerusalem Municipality.
• In the near future, the Ariel Municipal Company will tender for the construction of eight new viewing booths in the western gallery and the establishment of a broadcasting room for journalists and a control room for security personnel to manage the stadium.
• In addition, work will be done to complete accessibility of the stadium to disabled people, which will enable disabled viewers to arrive safely and watch the games from a convenient location.
• The installation of a state-of-the-art cameras system that includes facial recognition technology will be completed as part of the national struggle against violence in sports.
• Installation of the amplification system in the southern gallery will be completed.
• The large viewing screen will be copied from the eastern gallery to the new southern gallery.
In addition to the planned work in 2019, Ariel already completed the installation of an advanced amplification system in 2018, which has been operating for several months. The system has significantly improved the sound quality and audio experience in the games. In addition, renovations were completed in the players’ tunnel, communications infrastructures were improved to the media, the group benches were replaced by new chairs, as is customary throughout the world.
