According to a Sunday Times report from Sunday 10 Sivan 5773, Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad is deploying surface-to-surface missiles for use against Israel in the event there is another Israeli strike against him.
According to the report, Syrian army officials have received orders to fire advanced missiles into Central Israel in the event Israel launches another attack against Syria. Israel Radio reports the Tishreen missiles can carry a half ton warhead.
Foreign media reports over recent weeks attribute aerial assaults against weapons convoys in Israel to Israel. Israel has not officially accepted responsibility for those attacks. The New York Times reported last week that a senior Israeli official threatened Syria with attack should Assad fire at Israel.
Senior Israeli officials have stated that they would not permit the transfer of advanced weaponry to Hizbullah, calling such a move a ‘red line’ that will not be crossed. According to reports from Syria, weapons convoys were targeted in the aerial assaults attributed to Israel. Those weapons were reportedly heading for southern Lebanon.
Further complicating the situation with Syria is the advanced S-300 air defense system which was sold by Russian President Vladimir Putin to Damascus. Despite an attempt by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to prevent the deal by traveling to Russia last week, it appears that the delivery of the system has already taken place. Israel Air Force officials admit that the Russian system would complicate its operations in Syrian air space but the experts say that the IAF is capable of dealing with the Russian designed air defense system.
Adding to the situation is the fact that Russia has sent warships to the region, sending a signal to both Israel and the United States regarding any planned military strike against Syria.
UPDATED:
IDF Spokesman Brigadier General Yoav Mordechai on Sunday morning released a statement in regarding to the Times report on Shabbos, which is based on a senior Israeli intelligence official. The report states Israel prefers Assad in office over the rebel forces. Mordechai stated that he is not aware of the intelligence community’s opinion, adding in his opinion; the report lacks credibility and is therefore unreliable.

Anything from the Sunday Times should be discounted.
I sit in wonder at the self righteous nature of the IDF and the political leadership that exists in my holy county. Leave alone the internal strife that is destroying the very fabric of our holy county. Did they really think that they (the IDF) had a right to carryout a military strike on sovereign Syrian soil without a threat of retaliation.
Considering the facts at hand. The IDF has no right to threaten Syria with retaliation. If the shoe was on the other foot the IDF and its political cronies would not hesitate to strike into the heart of Syria or any other nation it saw fit to flex it might at.
It is time we saw the truth. I for one have no faith in the IDF nor do i have reason to believe their propaganda.
It is time we stop blindly believing in the IDF or the leaders of the State of Israel who are just tools of the army, and being to ask if any of it is real.
#2: I guess you won’t believe the threat is real until you Chv”Sh suddenly have difficulty breathing.
How close does the barrel of the gun have to be to your face, before you realise your life is in danger.
Trust in Hashem, but do hishtadlus.
