HaGaon HaRav Meir Mazuz Shlita, Rosh Yeshivat Kisei Rachamim and the rov of Eli Yishai’s Yachad party, used one of his shiurim to deliver a message, that he has done everything possible to achieve peace with Shas, but his efforts and those of others were rebuffed.

The rav was addressing polls that the Yachad party will not earn a sufficient number of votes to enter Knesset if it runs on its own. In a separate note, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Monday spoke with Yishai, urging him not to run alone to avoid wasting right-wing votes, fearing the polls are correct and once again, votes for the Yachad party will find their way to the trash.

Rav Mazuz told talmidim, “I urge you not to respond, but let them chatter, let them bark, and the fierce dogs will not be satisfied. There is nothing to talk about, today they said that ploni, ploni, not me, not me. They do not talk about me, they are totally righteous, their right will protect them – ‘He only has 4000 votes, what does he bring?’ If there was integrity in the world, last time we would have brought 150,000, but they did everything by force.” (The rav was referring to allegations of serious election fraud by Shas activists on Election Day to sabotage the votes intended for the Yachad party).

“Those who do not have money – they have a problem, what to do? They have, Ben Porat Yosef much more, but they do not have integrity!

“The world is divided regarding me, so let it be. This was the case regarding Avraham Avinu too, but the entire world respected him. Avraham Avinu was alone in his life, and so it will be. He who wishes to bark should bark. What should we do with them? Didn’t they bark at the Rambam? Many many did and hundreds of years following his petira the damned visited Tiveria, and they erased the situation and wrote, here lies the one in cherem ploni ben ploni and heard the grandson of the Rambam who lived in Egypt, Rav David or his grandson or great grandson. They were in cherem (excommunication) and 50 people died on that day.

“They should think that we were looking for a fight but quite the contrary. It is reported on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, that an offer is now on the table by Bayit Yehudi, that Eli Yishai will receive a realistic slot on the lineup, so he enters Knesset. This would be in exchange for a public announced from Rav Mazuz calling on his followers to vote Bayit Yehudi in the election. The dati leumi Kippa website reports that Yishai has agreed, providing he is placed in the third slot on the combined Bayit Yehudi/Ichud Leumi/Yachad list.

This will also add additional seats to the combined list, and Bayit Yehudi is hoping it will pull votes from New Right party, which was started by Bayit Yehudi defectors Naftali Bennet and Ayelet Shaked.
