Carter Promises to Work Towards Shalit’s Release

carter-arafat4.jpgFormer US President Jimmy Carter, who arrived in Israel earlier in the week, met on Sunday with Noam Shalit, the father of captive IDF soldier Gilad Shalit.

Following the meeting, Mr. Shalit told members of the press that in this case, Carter’s image as not being pro-Israel could be advantageous, explaining the former president is capable of opening doors and channels possibly not available to ‘friends of Israel’.

The meeting took place as Carter prepares for his controversial meeting with Damascus-based Hamas politburo leader Khaled Meshal. America’s State Department opposes the meeting, which Israel and America view as undermining their ongoing efforts in the region.

On Monday, Carter met with Meretz MK Yossi Beilin, and the two discussed efforts to obtain Shalit’s release as well as the deteriorating situation in Sderot due to constant attacks from Gaza.

Following the meeting, Carter traveled to Sderot for a first-hand look at the city which has been enduring rocket attacks for over seven years.

  1. Tell him to negogiate with Tehran ( which is in essence Hamas). Remember Jimmy with the 444 day hostage crises? It seems that he forgot. Ha Ha Ha.

  2. Pidyon Shvuyin is an extremely important Mitzvah. Yes even if we need Jimmy Carter for it – let it happen. (Timmer nisht kein toivas you can say on your own Chesbon)

  3. Shazam #1,

What’s wrong if Jimmy gets the job done? The ways of H-shem are mysterious. Maybe the whole purpose of Jimmys existance on this earth is to gain Shalit’s freedom.

BTW what does “timmer” mean? Is that supposed to be “tut mir”?

  4. Easy for you to say, as ehr iz nisht zein kint. Don’t be mochel someone else’s potential benefit… Chag Kosher V’Samayach….

  5. I share the hope that, even if it has to come through the vicious anti-semite, Hashem should send a yeshua for these poor people. It is unimaginable to think what it must be like to be a captive among such savages or being the family of such a person wondering what suffering he is subjected to.

Still, folks, remember, this is Jimmy Carter, the most useless, feckless collosal failure of a President. Don’t expect much.
