Sunday saw a return of agricultural terror to the region of Gush Etzion after Palestinian arsonists uprooted and cut hundreds of vineyards near the town of Kfar Etzion some 6 miles south of Yerushalayim.
The vineyards, located in between the Jewish Kibbutz of Kfar Etzion and the Palestinian village of Beit Omar, were cut, uprooted and destroyed. The land is officially owned by Keren Kayemet l’Yisrael and is worked by members of the Kibbutz. Similar incidents have occurred in the past in the same location.
Head of the Kfar Etzion Agricultural School Yaron Rosenthal said: “This was the work of the Palestinians in the neighboring village. For years they have stubbornly fought us planting trees on this land. We fight for every dunam of land and every tree. So far, Kfar Etzion is alone in the trenches without any help coming from the government.”
