The Land of Israel Legal Forum has petitioned the High Court of Justice in the hope of preventing the granting of the prestigious Israel Prize to historian Ze’ev Sternhell.

The opposition surrounds Sternhell’s open anti-settler policies, policies that in the past prompted him to call on the IDF to overrun the community of Ofrah with tanks. He also at times legitimized terrorism and encouraged terrorists to direct attacks against Yesha communities. As such the forum believes he is not a fitting recipient of the prize.
