As a result of a complained filed by the Machsom Watch organization, which monitors the conduct of IDF soldiers at checkpoints, the IDF is investigating allegations that some 45 Palestinian Authority residents were detained at a checkpoint for 16 hours. It is also alleged that the tires of their vehicles were punctured.
The report states the men, ages 14-50, were compelled to remain standing and prohibited from using restrooms while held at the checkpoint. They were given water, but prohibited from eating.
It is also alleged that car tires were punctured and other damage was done to vehicles used to transport the PA residents.
The Office of the IDF Spokesperson announced an investigation in underway, condemning any such conduct by military personnel.
