Motzei Shabbos News Round-Up From Israel


Some 12,000 protesters took to the Gaza border fence on Friday during Hamas’ weekly protests. The violent protest included the throwing of improvised eplosive devices, hand grenades, and large stones at Israeli security forces on Israel’s side of the fence. IDF soldiers returned fire using crowd-dispersing ammunition. Gaza Health Ministry officials reporte that 40 people suffered injuries in the protests.

A pair of combat jets were dispatched to Sderot after an unidentified flying vehicle was spotted ove the city. An IDF spokesperson said that after clarification the plane was identified as a private Israeli jet that had not made arrangements with the Israeli aviation authority. The incident has been handed over to the police for follow-up.

Former Defense Minister and Yisroel Beiteinu party leader Avigdor Lieberman criticized the Israeli government for not removing the Illegal town of Khan al-Ahmar in Judea by its slated December 31st deadline. Lieberman also chastised the government for not freezing the funds of the Palestinian Authority according to the law that came into effect as of January 1st.

Israeli Police nabbed over 100 molotov cocktails, dozens of firecrackers and two suspects in a raid that was conducted in the village of Manda in the Galilee. The two men are suspected of being involved in carrying out acts of violence resulting in bodily harm and damage to property in the village over the past few months.

Firefighters and EMS personnel were dispatched to a building fire on HaMaccabim Street in Rishon LeZion on Saturday night. Paramedics who arrived at the scene pronounced the death of one man in his thirties after he was found with severe burns and smoke inhalation and without signs of life. According to police, the man was a homeless person who had been residing in the building.

Magen David Adom teams treated a 45-year-old man who collapsed during a marathon near the Dead Sea. The team performed CPR on the man and then flew him to Hadassah Ein Kerem hospital in Jerusalem via helicopter. He was in critical condition upon arrival.

A 47-year-old Kiryat Motzkin resident was arrested and taken for questioning after he flew a drone in the area of Or Yehuda, which lies in close proximity to Ben Gurion airport. The use of drones in the area is strictly prohibited.

Likud has launched a new inititiative called Likud T.V. The first broadcast will be show on Sunday evening with host Eliraz Sadeh. The maiden broadcast will be together with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and it will be shown on all social media channels of the Prime Minister.

On Tuesday, Likud voters will decide upon Prime Minister Netanyahu’s request to place a hold on positions 21, 28. and 36 in the Likud list in order for the Prime Minister to assign those placements to people whom he claims will help the Likud win the election and prepare adequately for the unification of parties on the left wing, according to Netanyahu.

A nine-month-old girl lost consciousness at her home in Modi’in Illit on Shabbos morning. United Hatzalah volunteer EMS teams responded to the scene and performed CPR on the infant. Unfortunately, after lengthy efforts to save the child’s life a doctor who lived nearby and was alerted to the emergency arrived and pronounced the death of the girl.
