A 12-year-old boy choked on Thursday evening on a candy wrapper in the Ramot neighborhood of Jerusalem.
The shocking incident took place in the Mesilah Talmud Torah on Mirsky street in the Charedi neighborhood. The child choked just as the teacher finished handing out candies to all of the students in the Cheder
Volunteer EMS first responders from United Hatzalah who were dispatched to the incident provided first aid and transported the patient to Shaare Tzedek hospital in Jerusalem.

I suffered a similar tragedy from the overuse of candy as an incentive to study in my son’s yeshiva: My son got 8 cavities from all the candy his rebbe gave him, and I choked on the dentist’s bill.
