In what is perceived as a victory for Likud leader, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, the Tel Aviv District Court on Thursday disqualified his candidacy on the list, blocking his chance to run for a slot in the upcoming primaries, Channel 12 News reported. The court was ruling on the appeal filed by Sharon after the Likud court disqualified him from running.
Gilad Sharon, a son of former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, was planning to run as the party’s representative of the Southern District, but the Likud Court last week disqualified his participation in the primaries.
Netanyahu was against his running and the official reason is that prior to running for a slot, one must document three years of party activities. While having been active, the young Sharon is short 100 days to complete the three years, and due to the opposition to his inclusion in the primaries, the party court disqualified him.
