4.5 Year Prison Sentence For Terrorist Who Hurled Large Stone at Jewish Man in Jerusalem’s Old City


Jerusalem District Court Justice Avraham Rubin convicted terrorist Mahmoud Razam with aggravated assaulted in a plea bargain agreement and sentenced him to 54 months imprisonment and a fine of NIS 10,000.

The indictment stated that on January 11, 2018, a young Jewish man was returning home in the Old City of Jerusalem when a large stone was hurled at him by the terrorist from a short distance away and from a height of four meters. The victim was struck in his head and B’chasdei Hashem, he only sustained light injury.

It was pointed out the victim required stitches and suffered for a period of time for he was afraid returning home following the attack, as he was wearing a plastic helmet under his hat for some time.

Attorney Chaim Bleicher of Honenu, who was at the victim’s side throughout the case, commented, “A terrorist who was convicted of causing serious injury attempted to murder my client solely because he was a Jew. We thank the law enforcement authorities and the State Prosecutor’s Office for taking the terrorist and indicting him, but unfortunately the terrorist was not charged and convicted as he deserved in an attempted murder in a nationalistic crime”.
