The Israel Medical Association (IMA) has declared a ‘work dispute’ for doctors working in public hospitals. The declaration starts the countdown time of 14 days, following which a strike may be called.
The IMA announced the treasury is holding back and it is not honoring a work agreement that was signed over a year ago. IMA head Dr. Leonid Edelman explains “We are on the verge of major economic sanctions and cuts that may hurt the national health system. I will not permit compromising the agreement reached with the doctors.”
Edelman explains the Arrangements Law included in the state budget will harms healthcare workers and the health system alike and his organization will not sit back and permit this. IMA officials hope Finance Minister Yair Lapid understands that the organization is tenacious in its concerns for maintaining appropriate conditions for doctors as per signed agreements.
