Eight fire trucks were dispatched to a blaze in a residential structure in the Tzur Bachar neighborhood of Jerusalem on Sunday afternoon. Fire officials reported the main fire was in a bedroom on the second story of the building.

According to the fire department spokesman’s report, firemen began in the basement, searching the structure for persons who might be trapped inside while beginning to ventilate the structure as acrid smoke poured out of the building.

Firemen rescued nine persons from the building, all suffering from light smoke inhalation.

The fire department has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the blaze.

Magen David Adom reports it transported nine victims with light smoke inhalation, all taken to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital.
