Once again, tensions between Degel Hatorah and Elad Mayor Yisrael Porush are evident, as the Elad Municipality on Sunday, for a first time, published an announcement in the daily HaPeles newspaper, which is associated with Peleg Yerushalmi. It is reported that Elad wished to publish the same notice in Yated Neeman, but Degel Hatorah refused, as Porush is persona non grata regarding Degel and Shas, as both parties worked hard in recent municipal elections to prevent his reelection, albeit without success.
The municipal ad in the newspaper invites institutions seeking to relocate to consider Elad. The ad also appeared in Hamodia and Hamevaser. However, according to Kikar Shabbos News, Yated refused to accept the ad from Mayor Porush’s office. The report adds that when asked to comment, Yated officials explain the newspaper’s Vaad Rabbonim instructed them to reject the ad.
It is reported that Porush has come under attack in HaPeles over the years, and the Sunday morning advert marks the time that he ever placed an ad in the Peleg-affiliated newspaper.
