MK Ayelet Nachmias-Verbin, who entered political life in the current Knesset, on Wednesday announced she is leaving the Labor Party. The young MK explained that due to differences with party chairman Avi Gabbai and the pessimistic predictions in elections polls, “Labor is no longer my home”, she explained.
“As of today, my home is not the same house – despite the great support I get,” says Rabin. “I saw the dismantling of the Machane Tzioni and a strategic mistake that would seriously hurt the chances of a change of government, and I joined the public arena at the age of 20 and will continue to be part of the political arena in the future.”
She added that she thought that the big move that began with the partnership between Herzog and Livni was to expand on additional connections that would lead to victory. “The fragmentation of the parties in the center and the left obligates us all to think urgently and immediately about the future of the national democratic camp. At this time, I cannot claim as I did to the convention delegates to an ideological slalom, to lose our “way of life ” in the political center while at the same time convincing the public of our path. I also have a responsibility for that.”
In a recent interview with Haaretz, Rabin recently referred to her party’s difficult political situation, and when she was asked whether she intended to leave the party, she burst into tears.
