Police earlier this week arrested seven suspects in their 20s and 30s, connected to illegal weapons sales. The arrests were made in Arab villages in the northern area of the capital as well as in the city of Lod. A search of the homes of suspects taken into custody turned up at least one M-16 assault rifle and air rifles as well as ammunition.
In the course of the past two months, the Jerusalem Police Central Unit conducted a covert investigation using a variety of advanced technological means against suspects in the villages of northern Jerusalem and Lod who were suspected of trading and holding weapons.
All the suspects were brought for questioning by the police, and yesterday the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court extended their detention.
