An Israel Police Lachish District spokesman reports that an indictment was recently filed by the Claims Division of the Israel Police against a resident of Ashkelon (58) due to a wave of break-ins into vehicles and shuls in the city. When the suspect noticed the policemen, who followed him after the acts, he fled to his home, where he hid in the bathroom. He was arrested and interrogated by the police, leading to a criminal indictment.
The Lachish Police Prosecution Division filed a detailed indictment against a resident of Ashkelon for alleged burglaries of vehicles and shuls, where he stole property and caused damage amounting to hundreds of shekels. A few hours after the people reported the break-ins of the shuls, police located the suspect, who was identified by security cameras, as he was walking on Ephraim Tzur Street. When he saw police, he ran, heading home to hide in his bathroom, removing the clothing which police state he wore during break-ins.
The suspect was taken into custody and questioned, and his detention has since been extended as the indictment moves ahead.
One photo shows the suspect captured on a shul security camera and the second, one of the vehicle windows he smashed to gain entry.
