Mothers of soldiers serving in Nachal Chareidi sent a letter to outgoing IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-General Gadi Eizenkott about the allegations against them after the battalion suffered a number of fatalities and injuries in recent terror attacks.
According to a report appearing in the Monday edition of Yisrael Hayom, written by Yehuda Schlesinger, the letter, which was also sent to the IDF Ombudsman, was signed by six mothers; Bat-el Greenspan, Michal Krauthammer, Anat Ganim, Einat Noked, Sonia Alelli and Ronit Alon. In their letter, they mention the two fallen soldiers, Sgt. Yuval Mor-Yosef HY”D and Sgt. Yosef Cohen HY”D, who were killed in the Givat Assaf terror attack, and another soldier who was seriously injured in that attack, Netanel Felber, who remains in serious condition.
They speak of members of the unit who were suspended after the incident involving border police at Beit El, in which the soldiers clashed with police, resulting in two of them being detained, accusing the soldiers of unprofessional behavior.
Under the title “Accusations against our children, heroes of the Nachal Chareidi,” the mothers wrote, “We sent our dear sons to defend the State of Israel. They chose this route precisely because they knew that in an eternal battalion, they could certainly serve a meaningful combat service in a framework that suited their world, their way of life and their beliefs.
“They underwent a difficult professional training course by a wonderful team of commanders, and together they became a courageous group and a professional and good company that protects the citizens of the State of Israel and acts without fear to locate terrorists who try to break our routine and make our lives here miserable.
“Unfortunately, in recent weeks, our children who are fighting for the defense of the State of Israel have been subjected to a character assassination, and have been falsely accused of flawed behavior, lack of professionalism and low human standards.”

Chareidim don’t belong in the army; they are not wanted!
