On Wednesday night, police were called for a suspicious object in Ramat Gan. When policemen arrived on the scene, they noticed a bag containing personal documents, including a passport, an identity card and money.
The police contacted the owner of the passport, who claimed that she had forgotten the bag on the bus and was therefore was called to claim it at the police station. A closer look revealed that the identity card was forged and that the women was the subject of an earlier complaint regarding identity theft. The suspect, 53, from Georgia, was arrested and interrogated at the police station.
The investigation shows that the suspect who works as a cleaner, was accepted to the job by means of an Israeli identity card that she allegedly bought about a month ago and falsified the photo.
When she asked to be hired by a manpower company that supplies cleaning workers, she allegedly presented her false identity card – and was thus hired.
The suspect was questioned on suspicion of forging documents, impersonating another person and entering Israel illegally. On Thursday, she was arraigned, and her detention extended by a court.
