Sincerest mazel tov wishes to all newborn Yiddishe kinderlach. But, is the fact that they were born 1 or 2 minutes into the new Christian year actually significant? Does Pope Gregory’s calendar calculations confer any special “mazel” on anyone? Le’fi ha’emes, there’s nothing special about this day.
The answer to your question american_yerushalmi is no, it does not make any difference, and the gregorian calender partaining to months and years (besides the actual fact that it is a yearly cycle for the earth/sun from point A all the way around back to point A) is completely meaningless. The only reason these subjects are “items” these days in our communities, is probably due to the fact that everyone finished already the whole bavli, yerushalmi, tosefta, all musar seforim, everything everything, and they now have nothing to do on earth anymore and are filling up their time with such “important” facts………………………………..
Why is Israel so secularism? These babies were born on the 24th of Teves5779. Enough with the goyishe calendar. This is Yeshiva World., Supositorerly.
I was on phone @5PM EST Monday with my son in Bais Yisroel section of Yerusholayim, when suddenly he began hearing fireworks, and then realized it was stroke of midnite and that a new secular year had commenced.
