YWN regrets to inform you of the petira of Hagaon HaRav Sholom Zalman Chaim Kahaovitz ZATZAL, the founder of the Mosdos in Rechovot. He was 72.

The Niftar suffered for the past 17 years with many serious illnesses, even undergoing organ transplants.

Rav Sholom was sent to Rechovot many years ago by the Steipler to found Mosdos Hatorah in a then totally irreligious city. Despite many illnesses, he worked tirelessly for many years to establish what is now a flourishing city of many Mosdos.

He was extremely close to Gedolei Olam, including the Steipler, Maran Harav Shach, Rav Shteinman, Rav Elyashiv.

His son Reb Chillik is well known in the United States, working day and night to fund the Mosdos started by his father.

The Levaya will be held on Sunday morning in Rechovot.
