During a Monday night 30th anniversary event in Rabin Square, members of the radical left-wing Peace Now organization read a letter sent for the event by imprisoned Fatah leader Marwan Barghouti.
Barghouti states that he and the majority of Palestinian Authority residents are committed to peace, with the understanding that both sides accept the two-state solution, with Israel and Palestine living side-by-side in peace.
The letter was delivered to Peace Now leaders by former PA minister of prisoner affairs, Farris Qadura.
Barghouti remains at the center of controversy, with some government ministers insisting his release is the key to advancing peace efforts and a prisoner exchange, while others insist the arch terrorist, who was sentenced to five life terms for his part in murderous terror attacks, should never be permitted to see the light of day.
